Industrial WWTP & Aerators for Palm Oil Mill Effluent Ponds
Biological industrial wastewater treatment uses microorganisms in anaerobic, aerobic or combined processes, with a design that depends on the type of industry, the wastewater characteristics and government discharge standards. HG Chem in Medan handles industrial WWTPs, including aerobic ponds at palm oil mills, and supplies the HGJET 02 mechanical aerator, the Hercules Sludge Pump and decomposing bacteria.

Biological treatment of industrial wastewater varies widely, depending on the type of industry, the wastewater produced and the quality standards set by government regulations. It can use anaerobic, aerobic or combined stages. At palm oil mills, effluent is usually treated in a series of ponds, starting with anaerobic ponds followed by aerobic ponds.
In aerobic ponds or tanks, aerators play a key role. The HGJET 02 is a mechanical aerator that injects dissolved oxygen into the wastewater while stirring it to prevent sedimentation in the aeration pond or tank. Microorganisms that break down organic matter need oxygen to survive and multiply, so an adequate oxygen supply keeps decomposition going.
Over time, organic sludge builds up at the bottom of ponds and reduces their effective volume. The Hercules Sludge Pump is specially designed to pump organic sludge from aerobic and anaerobic ponds or tanks, and is fitted with an agitator to make dredging easier.

Frequently asked questions
What does an aerator do in a palm oil mill effluent pond?
An aerator supplies dissolved oxygen to the microorganisms that break down organic matter and stirs the wastewater so sludge does not settle in the aerobic pond.
Which aerator types and power ratings are available?
We supply mechanical aerators including jet aerators (such as the HGJET 02), submersible aerators and surface aerators, from 1 HP to 20 HP.
How do I deal with sludge build-up in wastewater ponds?
Organic sludge can be removed with the Hercules Sludge Pump, a sludge pump fitted with an agitator for use in both aerobic and anaerobic ponds.
